A NERVOUS SYSTEM GUIDE

What is Baseline?

Your baseline is the state your body returns to when it is not responding to immediate stress, danger, or overwhelm.

Baseline is a practical guide designed to help you notice when you have moved away from that state, understand the signals your body is sending, and build simple rituals that support regulation.

This is not about remaining calm all the time. It is about becoming familiar enough with yourself to recognize what you need—and finding your way back.

RECOGNIZING THE PATTERN

Is Baseline for You?

Baseline may support you if:

• You move between overwhelm, shutdown, anxiety, or exhaustion.

• You struggle to recognize what your body needs until you have reached your limit.

• Rest does not always leave you feeling restored.

• You feel disconnected from your body or unsure how to return to yourself.

• You want practical tools for understanding your patterns without judging them.

You do not need to be in crisis to learn the language of your nervous system.

INSIDE THE GUIDE

What You’ll Explore

Orientation

A slower way of listening to your nervous system without treating it as something that needs to be fixed, managed, or mastered.

Why Insight Hasn’t Been Enough

Understand why recognizing your patterns does not automatically create safety—and how self-awareness can become another form of self-monitoring.

Baseline and the Inherited Path

Question the pressure to push through, perform resilience, and follow ways of living that require you to override your body.

Five Micro-Rituals

Practice the Baseline Check, Withholding the Override, the Orientation Reset, the End-of-Day Return, and Permission to Stop.

When It’s Time to Rise

Learn to recognize when energy and capacity are genuinely returning, so movement can come from choice instead of urgency, pressure, or self-abandonment.
